tomcat's trip to switzerland
Just thought I would post a few pics etc.
Toured through france/switzerland/italy. We had a superb time, weather was fine .... in the end. Did manage to bike through some snow at the top of the St Bernard pass, which was exciting to say the least. My cbr did a great job, left knee and ar3e suffered a bit though! In all 2500 miles, not a bad weeks work. Best route for me was the route from Verbier over the alps to Chamonix. Will definately try and do again! Anyhooo , pics: First morning had to be done! 2nd largest dam in the world, forgot what it's called, near Verbier, Switzerland (thats a car at the bottom) on route, on the first rainy day! Lovely sunflowers My most arty picture, of the village of Dole Ps, tom tom european 2 sat nav, bob on |

Re: tomcat's trip to switzerland
Glad you had a good time, and congratulations. Are you getting wed in leather ?
If you did Verbier to Chamonix, did you stop at the cafe/hotel on the top of the Col du Forclaz ? Brilliant bit of road that, and I'm looking forward to being there in about 4 weeks time... Why does everybody stop at Dole ? I've done it a couple of times myself. It just must be in the right place. (There's a little town about 20 minutes North East of Dole called "Gray", on the D67/D475, which is a lovely place. Last time I was there it was with the Mrs in the car, we popped into the shops, got some bread, ham, cheese and something to drink and had a picnic by the side of the river...) . |

Re: tomcat's trip to switzerland
Dole is 3 fuel stops on the bike, about 6 hours in the saddle and maybe 8 hours from the ferry? It's the right place......
