Default Cadwell Park training day

Hi Everyone,

Just had an amazing day at Cadwell Park race track and thought i'd
share the experience.

Two of my mates (not on org) were booking a days riding at Cadwell
with Hopp Rider Training so I thought i'd go for a laugh. Having never
been on a track before and only been riding for 1 year I was quite
aprehensive as to what to expect.

Day started damn early, had to be at the circuit for 7.30. Briefing at
8.30 then first sessions began. Riders are split into 3 groups -Novice
Intermediate and Advanced. Then each group is split again into 5
mini groups (8 bikes with 1 instuctor), you decide where you think you should be. I went with the intention of going in the slowest of the novices but these were full so I ended up in group 3. On our first 2 sessions out we ended up lapping the two groups above us so needn't have worried.

We were really lucky with the weather but the instructors say that if its
raining you will improve your riding even more.

You get 20 mins on track each session and 8 sessions all day, this doesn't
sound much but anyone who has had track experience knows its fairly tiring. You never have to wait long for your next session as you get instruction before you set off then a de-brief after with pointers from your
instructor. The afternoon 4 sessions can be done with or without any
instruction its your choice. The best thing for me was that they teach
you 1 new thing to try each time then you get about 6 laps to practise.
They operate a drop off system so everyone gets to ride in front or behind
an instructor each time.

This is not like a normal track day with overtaking at rider discretion, there
are strict rules which everyone stuck to, as a result there were only 2 offs
all day, not bad for around 120 bikes!

I would recommend this day to anyone at any level wanting to improve their riding it certainly worked for me and was great fun. Cost was £170.00.

For more information including a video around the track go to

Cheers
Alex
