Out of interest, what was the warranty claim for Seeker?

first service 600-1000 miles then every 3500 miles afterwords. as for dealer servicing you get good ones and bad ones. before taking the bike to a dealer mark EVERYTHING that should be checked in that service. also confirm with the dealer what is going to be done on a specified mileage service e.g. plugs, oil, filter, valve clearance etc.etc too often people only get a basic service done then blame the dealer when things go wrong.

service stamps mean schit unless they can be backed up with what work was done.

always get the initial service done by the dealer for warranty purposes. if your going to do the servicing yourself afterwords then keep receipts for everything and buy the service kits from your dealer or use what is recommended otherwise if something goes wrong your stuffed for a claim.

are you sure that text is big enough?

My AL7 didn't like cold running, it would start ok but when you tried to move off it was like it needed choke which, of course, it doesn't have. They swapped the throttle body assembly.

There was also an ECU recall way back then, too (2016) but I can't remember why.

The AL7 ECU recall was just that fault with airflow sensor did not show as a fault code on OBD, but you get recalls via DVLA not the dealer.

Franchised dealer hourly labour rates up around £100, with inflated part prices, average independent garage about half dealer rates. That really is the most expensive cup of coffee you will ever get in a main stealers waiting room.

Yes, some dealers also have a checklist of items ticked for the work done.
You obviously have to trust the dealer you are using to have carried out the work they are charging for. If you regularly use a dealer you get to know the mechanics and can discuss things with them.

Jesus Christ, I don't want to be paying that much ! My Honda dealer was £60 an hour not that long ago.

Let's just say I feel reassured that was only size 6, size 7 also being available in the text editor drop down menu

For some odd reason when I posted originally, the text looked about the right size for an ant (well an ant somehow capable of reading English) so erm, I attempted a fix - that initially looked about the right size

We'll see how this post turns out.

Not having a great day with I.T. really as my broadband router died this morning.

The reason for the first(600 mile) service is for running in the engine. A new engine is likely to produce a bit of swarf as it beds in and changing the oil flushes that out. Probably the most important service the engine ever has.

The oil put into a new engine should be stock mineral oil, no fancy synthetic or semi-synthetic with friction modifiers as the film strength is too high to allow parts to bed-in / mate properly ( the engines of Gladius onwards have no real cylinder liners in the accepted sense but have SCEM composite ceramic applied direct onto aluminium of the bore, which arguably needs no breaking in as it is a smooth electroplating ). The good reason for taking the 'bedding in' oil out of modern engines ( mineral oil ) after about 600 miles is maybe not swarf as modern engine production is so much better than it used to be, but the fact that surfaces should be bedded in by then so time to put some decent oil in with a higher film strength. For my 2016 AL7 first ( home ) service I treated it to some Castrol Power 1 4T 10W/40 semi synthetic and then changed to fully synth at about 1500 miles, and after that used fully synth Castrol every 3000 or 12 months. Oh I went over all the bolts I could see and checked they were tight, bike never went near the dealer.

I would hope the Suzuki dealer knew what oil to put in my new bike !
