Tyre levers
New tyres arrived today. Looking to upgrade my (frustratingly) short tyre levers - any recommendations (or any to avoid)?

Re: Tyre levers
I've used Motion Pro bead breaker levers for a while. Good quality. I don't actually use them to break the bead any more though as they take a long time to do it, working round a few times. I use an Abba bead breaker now instead. They're decent as levers though.

Re: Tyre levers
Tyre levers and alloy rims don't normally mix, don't you have a local place that fits tyres or are they too pricey...
Or as Adam says https://abbastands.co.uk/product-detail.asp?pid=12 Should pay for itself fairly quickly. How about balancing the wheels ?

Re: Tyre levers
Cheers both. I've got a bead breaker, a static balancer, rim protectors, and tyre levers - used to change plenty of tyres on supermoto wheels, so just looking to upgrade levers - mine are quite short and can make it a difficult task.
At the moment I'm looking at the JMP "pro" set - I saw the motion pro's but disregarded them as I didn't need the bead breaking feature, but I'll take another look.

Re: Tyre levers
I've got the clip on type, but if you cut out the sides out of plastic oil containers they work well, especially where space is tight.

Re: Tyre levers
I use the Motion Pro levers but I have two sizes; two are about 11.5 inches long and one is only about 8.5 inches. They definitely benefit from being longer. If yours are the stubbier kind I can recommend the longer ones. They work great with rim protectors and a little soap.
Mine are the standard steel ones too, no bead breaker involved. I break the bead with a spare 2x4 and a car (use the tire as a fulcrum, push down on the 2x4... simple and has yet to fail on me) |

Re: Tyre levers
Exactly . Is it worth the hassle trying to do it yourself for what it costs when the shop/dealer takes the wheels out , fits the tyres and balances the wheels ,refits the wheels and disposes of the old tyres ?!

Re: Tyre levers
I use the tyre levers that came with my Abba kit, one long one short.
https://abbastands.co.uk/product-det...package&pid=38 They work well, now that my technique is getting better. More actual tyre removal, less swearing. I did my front tyre and bearing last night.

Yes. If you have more than one bike and one is a dirt bike with tubes that you swap between tyres on.
