Default Suzuki GSX8R announced

Looks okay from certain directions except for the stupidly small rear end. How are you supposed to attach any kind of luggage to that? I noticed that the rear light is on the number plate carrier but they've left a space in the body work for you to move it once you have a tail tidy. If you're going to do that then include the tail tidy as part of the sale.

I think the designer got paid by the millimeter of length but only realised that when he'd finished the seat. Naturally he thought: "How can I make the bike longer?"

Having now ridden the GSX-8S on wet roads this bike definitely gets soiled very quickly, worse than any other bike I've owned and that's with a hugger and fender extender (+ mudflap of course ). Having a 2 ft tow hitch stuck out the back doesn't help at all.

I like the "R" front end better than my "S" but I wouldn't have bought one. I liked my curvy "S" but my wrists used to complain (I know, I know - you're not supposed to let your weight rest on the bars but I'm lazy).

What is it with this trend for rear ends that point to the sky? Does not work for me.

Nor me. Leaves no space under the seat for something useful like a lock or puncture kit. I still think Kawasaki had the right idea in the 70's with that tail piece that you could put stuff in. Copied by Suzuki on the new GS range.

Crikey, that rear end!

And we thought the pointy had a horrible 'snow shovel', that now looks positively minimal in comparison!

Mind you, at least it's not one of those unsightly things that hangs off the rear swing arm - small mercies!

IMHO, the original Yamaha R1 did it quite well, but I agree about this newer trend for truncating the rear as well: Not my cup of tea at all.

That model name...
Trying to get my mouth to say GSX8R and not GSXR is making my brain hurt.

I noticed the new KTM's have that extendo style rear too, with the indicators etc all stuck miles back from the rear of the bike. Looks horrendous
