Default Acceleration

One of the reasons I went from a VFR to an SV650S was because I was constantly having to watch my speed.
However, whilst I don't miss the top end, I do miss the acceleration...Would an extra 1 or 2 teeth on the back sprocket help much or is there a better way without spending a lot of cash?
Any suggestions?

You said it. Extra teeth on the rear would do it, or a quick turn throttle or both.

Yup agreed on that. A 46 tooth rear will sort you out nicely. Well at the price of the mod you can't go far wrong, and you don't have to inform your insurance company as it's not technically a performance mod.

No not with just an extra two teeth. The SV never maxes out in sixth anyway so while the top speed won't increase, it won't decrease either. However the bike will be slightly more revvy, use a little more fuel, oh and er pops wheelies really easily (apparently ).

Or go for a 14 tooth front, R6 throttle tube and a race can.

The trouble with reducing the size of the front sprocket is that it reduces the radius and therefore makes the chain turn tighter and accelerates wear on both chain and sprocket, costing you more in the long run. The rear sprocket is also easier to fit.

A 46 tooth sprocket should cost about £25 depending where you get it.
