Default Email Scam - HMRC. Beware!

Just a quick heads up, it maybe old news but wanted to post in case it's been missed.
If anybody receives an email claiming to be HMRC that is not addressed personally to you by name its most likely dodgy. And the link will also ask you for personal details which is also very dodgy.
I received the following message:-

Form 9288 No. 2773-7821
(Rev. October 2009)
Department of the Treasury
HM Revenue & Customs
United Kingdom

Tax return for individuals
2008 - 2009 Recalculation of your tax refund

Dear Applicant,

On October 2009, after calculation of your fiscal activity, you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 762,81 GBP.
Your tax file number (TFN) is: 731948115 (See the tax privacy note in the Taxpayer's declaration on page 8 of your tax refund).

Notify: We have attached attached to this confidential message the tax refund "FORM 9288".
The tax refund form is valid only 24 hours from the date of sending, for security reasons.

Please complete the individual tax refund 2009 and allow us 5-9 business days in order to process it.

Sincerely,
HM Revenue & Customs

Beware these scammers!!!

I had one of these and was most upset when I remembered that last time they gave me my money through PAYE and thus this was fake!

I've had these. They persisted for weeks.

I'm very upset to find they offered the OP more money than they did me.

We've had clients phoning up at work about this. Just ignore them or ring the revenue to make sure. They'd never ask for any details via email. Theres a list on the HMRC website about scam emails.

Here is a link to the site: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/security/examples.htm
