Default Bus lane fine

Just got a PCN in the post. Caught riding in the bus lane on commercial road EC1.

Mate at work reckons that when using the bus lane in that area always leave your left indicator on and then you can claim that you were turning left in which case you're allowed to be in the bus lane.

Anyone tried this?

I dont see how that would work as "normally" there are gaps in the bus lanes at junctions to allow you to safely cross then with out entering them.

Really sorry to hear, got a PCN myself
As above can't see that working if there is no left turn, and if there is a left turn the bus lane usually ends before the turn. Sorry dude

Worth noting the times displayed on the bus lane sign (they indicate when it is for bus use only) and checking the time stated in the letter. If it is outside the time on the sign, you are free to use the bus lane

What he said and no dont bother with the "my indicator was on" line mate.
There are others on here who have been fined simply for riding on the white line on the bus lane and not in the lane next to it as they filtered.
TfL's attitude is "the line is part of the bus lane and you should not be in the lane at all". Pathetic eh?

b*gger, I thought we were allowed about a foot eitherside for filtering. Now I'll have to chance it going in between oncoming traffic. How ridiculous not to allow motorbikes into bus lanes.
