Default Project sv650

Hi
I have a gen 1 sv650,which has been built into a flat tracker....I'm going to also use it for a bit of sprint racing....so to lose more weight,i want to ditch the tank, and air box...fit small pod filters...for room not performance...and use a small 1 litre tank....then have a false alloy tank cover.....the question is will I be ok using something like this...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-MS0....m3507.....and not have the second vacuum pipe...or do I need the second pipe?..............or maybe just fit something like this to a suitable container?..https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fuel-Gas-....c100005.m1851

Thanks

The short answer is no.

That remote tank is intended for temporary use in the garage where you want to fire up the bike but still have easy access to the engine without having the tank on the bike. Thats how I use mine. This remote tank does not provide a fuel tight seal that would be required if it were strapped to the bike somehow.

If you want a very small tank I would suggest looking at pitbike or minimoto tanks or fabricating your own.

However pictures of your bike please as it will be interesting to see its current flat tracker shape...

Yes I believe you will still need 2 pipes presuming you are using the standard fuel pump and carbs.

The first pipe is the fuel delivery pipe. The second is the vacuum pipe. Without a vacuum I doubt you'll get much fuel...

If the replacement tank has a manual tap and the carbs are gravity fed is there still a need for a vacuum pipe or a fuel pump?

You need the pump because the bottom of OE tank is not high enough above the float bowls to give enough pressure via gravity alone.

If the bottom of your tank is higher than OE, then you may get away without the pump.
