Default Bellypans & stone chips

My pan is heavily chipped underneath the pan and there is an unsightly chunk which has chipped off on the front surface. It seems that the paint is quite soft on these, plus with it being fibreglass, it tends to mark.

Does anyone else with a bellypan have such a problem? Are yours plastic or fibreglass?

Im going to hopefully get some touch up paint to sort it out.

My lower fairings are now just about white at the lower front edge, directly where the spray from the front wheel hits. I will be spraying them in a bit come spring, using paint I bought from Ebay when I did the side of my headlight fairing.

This is what I used, thinned down and put through a cheap airbrush, also from Ebay. There are loads on at the moment, from 99p to all you can afford!

Dunno about mending your holes though. Maybe a fiberglass kit from Halfords?

Surprised you pointys go fast enough to suffer from this problem

My fibreglass belly has the same problem except it's not missing a bit. I wondered if more coats of laquer would offer greater protection.

Ill have to look into these cheap airbrushes, got to be better than putting it on with a brush. Is it just normal thinners which you are using Pete with this paint?

Cellulose thinners I think. I rang up the number on the pot of paint and the very helpfull lady told me! It'll need about 4 coats when thinned down. Then a laquer over the top.

Oh dear.

This is a pic of our Roca BP. We had it professionally resprayed a couple of years ago as it was the lighter blue. It has worn badly on the lip and notice the big flake missing by the lower air scoop.

That's why I wonder if more coats of laquer are required to give it some resilience.

oh dear, that no good, have to scratch my head about that one, as you said more lacquer. Am afraid my engine don't look that clean, but at least the pan will protect it from getting any worse.....supposedly!!!!
