Is this an issue?
Hi folks,
Used the girl this morn to get to work, as the car is in for MOT. And I know I had little niggly probs whebn I got her back from having her 2nd engine installed. Can anyone solve this one? When the engine is running, she's notchy going into gear, specially at slow speeds, going from 1st to second is a real struggle. Now when I stop the engine, and knock her into neutral, she's slips in and out of gears sweet as a nut?? I'm perplexed, is there an explanation for this, she also wants to pull away when knocking her into first and clutch is in, only very very slightly, but enough to notice. Any ideas folks would be greatfully read? Thanks, Mass |

I would check a couple of things first
1. Check the oil level, make sure its not overfilled, ( I bet after your previous problems though that this is OK ) 2. Check your chain tension I found before that with to much oil in the bike my bike does the same Dont know about the clutch thing though, sounds like its dragging and maybe wants adjusting ?

Well based on my own experience, check the oil level (no serioously that's not a dig ). I've found that if it's too full it can cause this problem (which is spasmodic), having the oil level half way between high and low cured the problem. Now it might not be the case but it's a thought.
The other thing is ensure the clutch really is properly adjusted. . |

I can honestly say that I check the oil everytime I get off her, and yes I can tell you that the oil level is over the 'F' mark in the window. So she'll be having some let out then Oil... ...you just wouldn't beleive it - would you. |

Sounds like a bit of clutch drag too, mine suffers from this esp when cold, despite several efforts to get the adjustment right. Worth checking anyway. As Jonboy says, chain adjustment also helps - mine shifts better is the chain isn't too slack.

Hi Mass!
All of the above will give the problem you describe. My curvy is very fussy about chain tension, so check that too. I find that, when in neutral, if you pull in and let out the clutch lever rapidly about four or five times, she selects first with ne'er so much as soft snick! Hey, it's free advice and free to do.....what more do you want? Regards Rich |
