My mate has just done a deal with a lad for a XJ 650 by swapping his GPZ750
It turns out that the V5 is missing, how does he go about getting a replacement? |

He was going to do that today anyway but wondered if they would give him the information. He hasnt done the swap yet but he wants the XJ because he had one when he was a lad :P
The story was plausible enough from the would be seller. The bike was his uncles who had it stolen, when the police found it and returned it he just lost interest as he had bought another bike by then. He then gave it to his nephew who has just passed his test. And Im not even sure if I believe that when I read it back ![]() |

You cannot apply for the v5, current owner has to.
I know as ive lost the v5 for our rs125 and we want to sell it! but have to get a new v5 first! |

If a reply is not received IIIRC within two weeks challenging the application then a new V5 would be issued to the new owner/applicant. Cheers Ben |

![]() These have been mostly people that know and trust me buying bikes off me. When the letters from the DVLA have arrived I just ignore them and they get the new V5 in their name . I was a bit surprised first time I got the letter as like you said what's stopping anyone doing that ![]() Cheers Ben |

As he hasent heard anything positive from the vendor, he has told him to stuff it.
DVLA would not give him any information as he was not the registered keeper |
