Well that was hard. The hardest one so far by a long way. 12 kilometres in the freezing cold running through the muddiest field you could imagine and that was without the obstacles all 90 of them thrown in for good measure. I don't think my body will forget just how cold that bloody lake was. Deathslide into lake followed by swim across. BBBRRRRRRR. It was freezing. Oh and the ****ing rain and 50-60 mile an hour winds.

I almost wore my Garmin, but took it off just before the start. I didn't fancy killing it just yet.
Third event this year so I qualified to claim my Mudallion too. I post's up a couple of pics once Flickr stops messing about. It doesn't seem to accept things off my phone since the last update.

Nice medals Martin, but the words "Survivor" and "Mudallion" are sufficient to dissuade me. You're a braver man than me!

Some of my canicross friends took part in the recent Dogstacle event which was literally (human) knee deep in mud. The dogs were all mad keen despite the mud being almost up to the necks of some of them.
Another couple took part in the recent European Canicross Championships in Belgium. Despite Belgium allegedly being flat the whole race site looked like the Battle of the Somme with big hills!

Well done for that! Not something I'd be interested in!

Just seen this on an email from Nuclear Races.

THE FINAL FALLOUT OF THE YEAR WAS BRUTAL!
We can do a lot of things but we can't control mother nature. The wind & rain took us to new levels of mudness today.
We promised you a beast for the final Nuclear of the year & it delivered - the Fallout really DOES bite.
This race was about survival. YOU did it & can now claim legendary NUCLEAR status.

I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought it was hard.

First run for just over a week, my short local loop, and nice to get out there.
Turned my ankle when I stepped on one of Mabel’s toys, a red rubber ball about half an hour before running. Painful for a few minutes after doing it and then fine, no twinges or stiffness, so I ran. About an hour and a half after my run while heading into Shrewsbury on the motorbike it started hurting. Now I can’t walk on it. Hope it clears up quickly!

Take it easy Gary!

I'm struggling to find any motivation to get out there. Dark when I leave and dark when I get home. The weekend is my only chance lol

I know what you mean Darren, I'm struggling to get out the door too. Evening run with a headtorch is quite good on the trails here, as long as I'm not too tired by that time of the day. Always feel better if I manage it though, and sleep like a log afterwards!
