Default Front end question

Before I go and spend money put new springs and emulators in my forks what would be the rough cost of a gixxer front end? Having searched on here and looking on ebay it seems a bit of a minefield.

No idea about the front end swop but keep an eye on ebay.
From time to time resprung forks with emulators or cartridge internals come up, presumably from racers changing bike or moving on. Selling your own fork legs will recoup a bit of the money too

the cheapest and easy sourced front end you will get is the GSXR 600 K1-2 which are RWU but these use the 'diamond' spoke wheel which are hard to get in good condition and expensive, they are a direct 'bolt on' and lock stop compatible. next up is the later srad 750 USD plenty of parts available but the top yoke is set for the earlier style suzuki bikes and will lock the later bikes in 'bars straight' position.

the other stumbling block is the speedo conversion which is a whole subject on its own.

you also have to remember that depending on your age you might find it hard/expensive to get insurance with a modified front end.

I'm 36 but new licence. I think I will opt for the spring and emulators for now then due to funds and not wanting my bike off the road during summer while I source the parts. Shame because usds make the front look a bit meatier too.

all a cartridge front end gives is adjustability on the fly and better brakes. the brakes are not advised for new riders as coupled with the engine braking they can be lethal and most new riders tend to panic brake.

your much better off with springs and emulators. if you want better handling later on once you have cut your teeth then either upgrade the bike or look at upgrading the front end. i personally like the way the SV is a real world bike so upgrading the front is a no brainer.

Thanks Bibio that mention of lethal front brakes is a very valid point.

Having just started using emulators and new springs myself, the braking feel is much improved and gives more confidence. The bike doesn't stop any quicker but it doesn't dive, and is much more controlled.
