Installing Factory Pro ignition advancer '00 model
OK, I have just received an ignition advancer from Factory Pro, for my '00 model SV650S
It includes a half-circle (woodruff key?) little thing with a ridge on one side and a flywheel puller. Anyone fitted one? Any advice for fitting instructions, at numpty level, much appreciated. |

Its an easy job just remember to have the bike leant over to the right & not on the side stand to prevent oil spillage. Be careful with the gasket. I had to file mine down as it did not fit properly. If you did not get instructions as you look into the crank taper the offset is anti clockwise ot to the front of the engine if the woodruff key is on the top.

I found that the method in those instructions to remove the rotor didn't work for me, so I ended up using a massive adjustable wrench to hold the rotor when installing and removing it, and that worked very well. And I'd say don't bother trying to keep oil in, just do an oil change at the same time.

Thanks for the tips guys.
I used the FAQ from the main site, and found all exactly as it said things would be. I did have to knock two thou off the new key to get it to fit. but did the whole thing on a paddock stand thereby necessitating an oil change, which never hurts does it..... A very worthwhile mod IMO, the difference seems to be mostly between 3000-7000rpm, top gear overtakes, roll on and off you go. shift down to fifth? what for?? Very glad I did it, well worth the $20.....love eBay!!! |
