Default 02 Curvy - New Reg/Rec & Battery. Won't start?

The reg/rec failed on our 02 Curvy and I assume caused the battery to swell?

The bike has just been fitted with a brand new battery as well as a new reg/rec from WeMoto.

Before the reg/rec went the bike was running absolutely fine for around 500 miles since it was fully serviced and other than changing those 2 items nothing else has changed. Its been parked in the garage for a week while we were awaiting new parts.

The bike turns great , but just will not fire, almost as if it's not getting a spark.
As it was running fine previously I'm happy that there isn't an issue with the spark plugs.
I've pulled and checked all the fuses and they are fine.
New battery is the same brand and spec as the previous one.
New Reg/reg was a direct swap for the blown one.

Any suggestions on where to look next?

To check for spark, hook one of the high tension leads to a grounded spark plug, and crank the engine. If no spark, the dying reg/rec may have taken out the ignition unit as well as the battery.

It sounds like the reg/rec failed with an over voltage condition if the battery was swollen in which case, as George indicated, it sounds like the igniter has failed. Not much you can check on the igniter - battery voltage (12V ish) on orange/white wire and about 6V (approx) on orange/red wire measured at the igniter.

First check if there is a spark. Pull one of the plugs and crank the engine while holding the plug electrode against the engine block. If no spark then start looking at fried ignitor unit and such like.

Cheers for the replies.

Looks like it will be the ignitor that's gone too.

you could pull the plug cap and stick a nail or screw in the cap and hold that 3mill or so from a good 'ground' (earth) and then spin the engine - save removing a plug

Just to close this one out.

Fitted a new ignition coil today and all is well once again.
Attaching the plug cap to the wire was an absolute ballache though. Perseverance and swearing got me there in the end though.

So now that's the Mrs Curvy sorted out, I've just had new tyres fitted to the Gladius that I bought last week as a temporary stand in for my crashed S1000R. So assuming my collarbone has healed enough I'll be out with her for fish and chips at rhe Coast tonight!

Thanks to everyone for their help too.
