So the place pmapp suggested is in an entirely separate town, about 3 miles away as the crow flies (10 by bike)

If we used the backpackers again, all the types of food and ale to choose from is only a step away.
The indian place me, Quiff, Mandy and Bluepete was top notch. Even had its freshly dead pigeons on its doorstep

Have you tried Sykeside & Brothers Water, top of the struggle.
Bluepete and a few of us stayed there for a ride out a couple of years back.

Depending on whether it falls on a rest day, I'll be up for it again. Might do an overnighter this time as its always a pain having to come away from a good day.

It was Mid-February last time if I remember as it was my first proper ride on the Versys.

Last year was the 21st of Feb - I went and looked it up the other day to work out where the proposed bunkhouse is in relation to last years.

I don't know if the sykeside place would accept us - it looks like they don't want groups of more than 6 adults (including under different names). That may only be for camping though.
