Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
Hi All,
I'm debating what I want to do at my K2 curvy while the weather is ruining life for everyone, I'm trying to work out what is going to give me the biggest improvement for my cash. My current thoughts are one of: 1. Front forks, rear shock and maybe a steering damper 2. Exhaust system, maybe a bit more power, sounds good and to be honest my original suzuki can is scratched to hell from an off last winter plus it's pretty ugly. 3. New fairing uppers / lowers, just a cosmetic thing, plus my current lowers block the oil reservoir window, making a simple oil check a PITA. 4. Power commander, its a completely stock bike at the minute so I'm thinking this might give a decent improvement, but could the same be acheived through a combination of cheaper mods? Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated! Cheers, Paul |

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
Ah, yeah sorry like you say too much time reading the mags, not enough time with the bike!
Must admit suspension was my first thought, don't suppose anyones got any advice on suspension bits they've tried and would recommend for the K2? Cheers, Paul |

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
Get a decent can IMO. Usually adds a bit of power and makes them sound so much better.

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
How much do you want to spend and what do want to achieve?
Emulators and a decent rear shock would make a world of difference. A new can while making it sound nicer and maybe adding a bit of power wouldn't make a fraction of the difference. You can if you do it right do a swap for a better frontend for no money, old RWU GSXR600 frontends for example are much better and sell for peanuts in comparison to SV frontends. Druid

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
I was thinking in the £500 region, excuse my ignorance but what are emulators?
The biggest thing i'd like to get rid of is the uncertain feeling the front end gets when I crank the bike over, it quite often feels like its going to wash out, I think a steering damper might help, but to be honest I know more about cars than bikes so any pointers are well recieved! Paul |

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
steering damper is a waste of money and not needed, emulators are OK, but just uprated springs & oil will do 80% of the job for about £80.
find a nice secondhand full system, match it with bigger jets and a full flow air filter is the way to go. Other thing ?, cam swap (do a search it's well covered), final drive ratio change. Cheers Mark.

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
No, a steering damper won't help.
The forks in the SV are tbh cheap and a bit nasty, nicer forks are cartridge forks, emulators 'emulate' cartridge forks. http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...-RT506884.html or swap the frontend for something off a better bike and sell on the old frontend. If you do it right you could even make money. Then decent rear shock and it'll transform the handling. Druid

Re: Winter Mods - Suggestions Welcome!
Fender Extender, a tin of ACF-50, and a bottle of Silkolene Pro-FST (Carb'd bikes only).
Nothing else is needed for the bike, this way you can continue to ride it! Last edited by Dangerous Dave; 08-09-09 at 04:34 PM. |
