It only took a bit of swearing and a hammer to get the old ones off and the new ones were on in time for a trial run to the pub. The straps will take a bit of getting used to but so far so good.

Never look back from toe clips. I've worn them for 30+ years, even with my kids (just done a 6 mile ride with the 6 year old daughter). Be prepared to replace the straps annually, the fastenings loosen off with time.
I actually prefer cages to the Shimano cleats I have on the other bike.

Default What have you tinkered with today?

Prepped the SV for its MOT on Friday. Seems fine. 7 years old, 42,000 miles on the clock.

Day in the garage yesterday, quick service for the curvy. All the fairings off, new iridium plugs, K&N air filter out and cleaned/re-oiled, carbs re-balanced, throttle cables and linkages oiled and adjusted, chain adjusted. Then a serious clean.
Rode it today and it's like another bike. You get used to it running a bit rough over time and this put it back to where it should be. Pulls like a train, light, smooth throttle action, ticks over like a watch. All the snatchiness and missing gone completely. Lurvely!!

So had a tinkering Sunday today, as bike had brand new chain and sprockets when I picked it up checked and adjusted the chain, changed the bulbs for Philips xtreme visions Inc sidelights and done the TPS mod and lubed throttle cables. Whilst seats were off found a little gift of grab rail infils hidden under the seat

Fitted NGK Iridiums, then a 90-mile test ride. The standard CR8s had done 6000 miles and looked hardly used, the gaps were still bang on 30 thou so I wasn't sure if the Iridiums would make any difference. But they did: trickling along in traffic is smoother and less lumpy, and the pick-up is definitely sharper from light throttle at any speed.

Tried to sort my slightly twisted forks, made it worse. Bike now handles like a bag of crap should have left it alone! Will have to give it another go and hopefully make a better job of it.

Also discovered some stiff links so new chain is on it's way.

Orders a set of pattern rear pads for the Tiger.
Will do a review of them after I've tried in the wet.

I ordered some 2K aerosols to respray my replacement (black) tank Canyon Yellow. I used a Pantone book to find the nearest match and chose Pantone 1235. RAL 1003 Signal Yellow is pretty close too. 2K aerosols contain a separate chamber of hardener which you activate with a button and then have to use the can within 8 hours. Supposed to be petrol-proof. Fingers crossed!
