Solution = replace my ageing ipad with a new, bigger iPad Pro. The old HP is in for repair but oh what fun ´mirroring´the ipads—— double bonus, HID now has an ipad. But I’m already missing the HP
My unlovely Compaq laptop will be going to the big recycling centre after completely fecking me off this morning, either a Win10 update caused it not only to lose its activation code, but not able to play sound or use the mic.

Not usually a problem, but I had an international webbex conference call when it decided to do this. Bluetooth also disappeared, had to plug in a Bluetooth dongle, which worked for 10 mins, then stopped working. This is after I'd installed webbex at the start of the meeting, video was running fine, but no sound.

So I spent the next hour and a half watching presentations in silence, and unable to contribute or ask questions.

No issues in device manager, plugged another Bluetooth dongle after the meeting had finished, and hey presto Bluetooth now working

It is an ancient laptop, but worked fine on the last conference call. I have to use my own laptop, as my official laptop won't allow webbex meetings as we use Teams and Skype. I can't install webbex on my official laptop.

Fecking tech!

Mav. its not the laptop its webex. contact Cisco and tell them your problem or get the other participants to swap over to another app for webchat, there are loads out there that are free.

Bibs, it's not always easy to get everyone on the same platform. We're blocked from using Skype for instance and cannot use our own kit for anything. My client uses Teams and we use Google Meet, and they don't get along, so if a Clent joins us on Meet they have to remember to turn off their VPN or they cannot get off mute... Crazy.

installing an additional security camera to the house, so running a cable under eaves in the loft,

Discovered two wasp nests when I removed the boxing for access, Explains the glut of the things lately. So I need to kill them without upsetting the bees I know are also nesting in the cavity.

My gripe is the fact that the UK allows anyone in the world to buy a domain name that sounds like it's a UK company.
https://www.laptop-battery.org.uk/

This company ships its batteries (or at least the one I ordered) from Hong Kong. Had I checked on the "contact us" page I would have spotted it and ordered from elsewhere. Estimated time to arrive is another 2 weeks and it's already been over 1 week.

When I registered my domain, Nominet want proof that my company was legit.

It depends on the top level, I think .co.uk 's have some vetting. Orgs are pretty much unchecked but are supposed to be reserverd for charities/non-profits I think, I would query a commercial company using a org.uk or .org

i have several domains .co.uk and .com and have never once been asked to provide proof of a company. registering a domain is not the same as registering a company. its a domain name and up to the holder to do what they please with it unless for fraudulent or other nature. i can also trade all over the world with a .co.uk domain so same goes for other country's. its search engines like google who try and keep it geographic or .com for its users.

but yes its a bit cheeky using a uk domain if you stay in china.

oohh i also have a VOIP phone that i can have numbers from all over the world to make it look like i have offices in London, New York.. etc.etc.
