At 3 figure sums down the motorway i've had no problems.

I have over 10 times your mileage under my belt, and having upgraded my suspension (which is the SV's biggest downfall) I'm still have a blast riding mine.
I agree with Ralph totally. You'll love the SV. Another bonus is that nothing sounds as good, not even triples. Sorry T guys; I'm honest...

nope, to me that noise is like scraping finger nails down a black board.

As for the fairing thing at high speed, worraloadatosh. However if you mean that the standard screen doesn't keep the wind out of your hair, then yes, its a bit on the naff side, your head may bob about a bit....all solved by buying an aftermarket double bubble screen.
Then you can go on your merry way for hundreds of 'bulldog neck' free miles

You have to make an in-line 4 work real hard to sound "good", whilst the SV sounds good anywhere in the rev range.

Is this stock muffler?
Do you know of any good, and kind of inexpensive slip on exhausts?

Nah sounds crap as anything else with stock pipe.

Loads of nice budget exhausts, beowulf for one.

first tell me the name of the muppet that said that they need a proper slap, also (and note i kept it) you seem to have the good sence to keep the deniablity of that statement,
fairings are there to direct wind resistance away fron the rider hence the opposite would be the case, more stability at higher speed
your source need to learn some basic physics or learn to shut up
note not you the muppet that told you this carp
