Default Intermittent starting problem

Hi guys,

The curvy has been a bit fickle starting recently.
Today it wouldnt turn over at all. I live on a hill so attempted crash starting it about four times with no luck then i pressed the starter and she fires up. It did the same thing coming home from work. I was parked on a level bit of ground so put it in third and pushed the bike about a metre and then released the clutch . After this it started at the press of the button.

It seems to me the engine might be a bit tight/stiff in certain points and after I move it a bit it be easier for the battery to spin it over. Either that or it is some electrical gremlin. What do you reckon?

It did this with regularity in the morning in winter but not in the afternoon.
But the weather down here in oz is very warm now so I guess this problem is getting worse now.

The battery was new in May. And the reg/ rec was changed in 2007.

Cheers for your advice
Ryan

Do you have an alarm? Just checking because I've had a sporadic problem where the immobiliser doesn't disengage and I have to turn the alarm on and off again. The behaviour sounds similar.

Could be a failure of the starter motor to engage.I sometimes get this on my Kwak.Rock it a bit in gear to move the crank a bit and it fires up ok.

Could be a dirty clutch switch - that was my problem. It was full of crud and a good clean and grease cured my sporadic starting.

thanks guys.
It sounds like a similar thing to what happens to your kwak biggles.
Fingers crossed the rocking it in gear thing keeps working
