Intermittent Speedo problem on K3
I have a naked K3, with the digital speedo. On my way home on Friday night, heading north on the A23, I looked down to see how fast I was going as I approached a speed camera (ahem, sorry, SAFETY camera), and saw that I was doing 0 mph.
I stopped off outside Dobles, and checked the front wheel, and all looked okay there, with the sensor well positioned, nothing loose, and no signs of damage. So I carried on home, with 0 mph all the way. Occasionally this would jump to 2, 8 or even 10 mph for a moment before returning to zero. I got back to my bike last night after the weekend, and went to fill her up for this morning's journey to work. Low and behold, the speedo is working again. However, joining the M23 again this morning, and it's back to 0 mph (not an indication of the amount of traffic). Anyway, then it came back again for a while, and then it went again... and I'm not sure what's going on. I assume the sensor is electronic, and there are no moving parts in the sensor cable - just wires. I don't think the problem is at the sensor end, as this was connected without problem a few weeks back at Dr Rictus' Fork Spring Day ; and it has been working fine for the past 1000 miles or so. So I expect something's come loose at the clock's end... any hints, tips, ideas or thoughts? Anything's welcome!

On my old yamaha the speedo started doing similar. It would get stuck at about 70ish then bounce up occasionally to my true speed.
All it need was to be lubricated. |

Only loosened the clamps to straighten the front end anyhoo, didn't remove anything, certainly not the wheel, which is what would be necessary to remove/displace/mullah the sensor.
