Default Soft front?

There's been a few posts that suggest all SV forks are a bit soft...
recommending thicker oil, stiffer springs etc.
What I was wondering is how this softness shows up?
I guess I must be the thick part of 15st, but I've not thought the front could be stiffer.

Or is it just my Girls Blouse riding that fails to demonstrate the softness?

Also true.

The most obvious is excessive brake dive, but many people also find that it displays a certain imprecision in the steering.

Cool, less money to spend. But then unless your bike came to you new, and as it's a much made mod, it's just possible it was done when you got it.

If it works the way you like it's right, can't say fairer than that.

But you might be a big girls blouse all the same

Yep spot on . Nah it's your smooth and precise riding style

IMO it's not as bad as most folks make it out to be. In saying that as in majority of bikes on the market , getting correct springs for weight riding style makes it better.
A bit like tyres really , that urberstickiesttyres ain't going to automatically make you better/faster rider JMO.

Cheers
Ben

Oh yeah, that and natural talent to ride around handling niggles

Anyway I wound the adjusters down a notch befor the w/e and am v. pleased by the result...
all seems more stable through quick corners.
Also, a big bonus is the much reduced SV front end knock over low speed lumps and bumps.

Thanks for advice

is that when the forks effectively bottom out over bumps?

No.... well, fairly sure not for me.
There's a thread or two elsewhere on this forum that suggests that SVs front suspension knocks (but not bottoming) over certain types of bump at lowish speed. IIRC There's report of a dealer saying they all do that...

As always there's a whole range of ideas as to why!

Check head races if it knocks. Mine doesn't knock never has and I'm on my 3rd set of front forks. Don't ask.
