Hi pal, may want to post in here;

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=119882

A lot of the MTBers don't own motorbikes anymore so will only look at that thread when updated etc.

Build one!!!

I completed a build in July last year. Spent getting on for 2k on a hardtail but got it just how I want so won't have to spend any cash on upgrades like you do if you buy off the peg. You also get the satisfaction of the build and you know that it's been put together right. £1500 on a frame and £1500 for parts will get you something pretty special.

If you read the warranty it will probably be void the minute you take it off road. In my experience if I've ever broken anything it's been replaced anyway irrespective of whether it came on the bike or was after market.

All the parts you buy, if new, would be covered under manufacturers warranty anyway......plus, my understanding was that most frames, if bought new were covered under warranty providing you didn't use forks that are not in the permitted size etc.

So if you want to build one, then providing all new parts, which for the budget you would probably be doing - then do it, as Scoobs said, you will get a tailor made bike - rather than a bike you want to spend loads doing up.

What kind of bike you after anyway? XC, AM, DH

Have a look at the Chain Reaction website. There's a "COVE Shocker" and a "NUKEPROOF Scalp" frame which also look good value.
