Re: Ar 07½
What's in a name? Surely there can be a camping/riding trip at any point (take North vs South for example). Lets not argue over names, please.
At the AR, there were conversations held about ideas for next year (ideas at this stage can only be a good thing). Some folks mentioned Wales, some Shropshire, some said back to the lakes/peaks, and there were probably other areas mentioned too. Wherever it's held, it'll be too far away or too wet etc for someone. Can't please everyone. Thank you Richie, if it hadn't of been raining then people might of noticed how much I was in fits of laughter at you last night. Watching you stumble around looking for your tent (although I'm sure most of it was an act - rather than alcohol induced) I think I wet myself!! |

... the North/South is a good example of a Regional event. Organised by a few folks from one region to go play in another region's backyard. You may say "what's in a name?" - but sometimes it can mean a lot, in differnet ways, to different people. |

Re: Ar 07½
I like the idea of an Annual ****up myself. Stick it at the other end of the calendar at the end of January or something, bikes optional At the end of the day for me it's not much about the ride and all about the, eh, staying up till 4.30 with Ben and his little metal glasses, and getting stabbed in the head with a spear, and Grinch's pants, and tugs of wars with cars... So see you all at AP07?
It's really easy to scale up a local event into a bigger one, we've done it a couple of times- wasn't really organised so much, just that we had a big gang of irish and essex boys up to visit one weekend and had a great run and a barbie. It doesn't have to be a big official weekender to be worth travelling for, after all. And if we do a few of these regional rides every year it's not the end of the world for people who can't make it on the big day, since there'll be plenty of other weekends... But it wouldn't take anything away from the big day, in fact, could definately help to make it better from the social side.

Re: Ar 07½
I think this is a great idea (especially as I didn't make it to the AR in the end - bl**dy electrics!!).
