First time out on new bike.
First ride on the old girl today (did'nt bother with a test ride when I bought her) Enjoyed it too, although I could'nt find any Lamborghini's to shut down.
Comparing the SV to the Evo is like comparing chalk to cheese but I'm looking forward to getting used to it and doing a few track days this summer (starting with Snetterton in about six weeks) Anyone out there who's fitted Ohlins (or similar) fork springs/stiffer fork oil? Did it make a big difference? And I was thinking about Michelin P/R3's but now I think Roadsmarts might be a better idea. Binned the fairing lowers and put some mini turn signals on too, new C&S and a service next week. Last edited by Small Clanger; 13-05-12 at 10:59 AM. |

Re: First time out....
Cartridge emulators (RaceTech or Debrix) and springs to match your weight absolutely transforms the handling, and relatively cheap to do. Rear shock has less of an effect.

Re: First time out....
Emulators are economical and effective, full gsxr front end another common mod.

Re: First time out on new bike.
Pilot Power or Pures are fine and work well in the wet. The fronts will last for ages unless you're doing loads of trackdays. The back can suffer if you do a lot of motorway work but its great leaned over. Never used Smarts.

I'd go Pr2/3, I tried the roadsmarts and found them a bit numb.

Re: First time out on new bike.
I have Ohlins springs and 15w oil in my forks and a cheapo ZX636 shock, emulators on order. More than welcome to come have a look / try out.
I use Avon Storms on the Curvy. You should also be able to sell those lowers easily on here if they are not to your taste, and you might like it with a nice end can, the SV can make a nice noise . Last edited by markc123; 06-03-12 at 10:57 AM. |
