Re: 97 Ron Fuel...?
TBH I dont know if Ultimate had any effect on carb icing on my old curvy. It was an intermittant problem and seemed to happen a bit less with the "superfuel" but it might have been coincidence. The Euro import curvys had like mine had no carb heaters. Others swore by a thimble full of meths or white spirit to prevent it but I dont drink the stuff.

Re: 97 Ron Fuel...?
Quote:
Carbs ice because the pressure drops across the throttle at small openings and the air expansion causes the fuel to evaporate (absorbing heat in the process) and the temp and press to reduce. FI port injection puts the fuel down at the intake valve so the temp drop across the throttle is much less noticeable. FI throttle bodies in cars are heated with engine coolant to prevent icing from engine breather gas. Fuel additives tend to attach to water molecules and prevent the formation of ice crystals. IPA works reasonably effectively, and this is primarily what makes up stuff like Silkolene PRO FST https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/msds/silk...%20FST_sds.PDF . The electric carb heaters fitted to early SV650 engines were not very effective, and the first thing was to put the temp sensor out into the air and not where the factory put it which was above the engine in the warm (relative). Many folk find premium fuel tends to reduce the likelihood of icing, though it may be marginal.
