How much power does a trickle charger use?
How much power does an optimate charger use? Assuming i run it every night for 8 hours. I presume it's not much but my landlady is concerned about power usage as i want to connect it to a communal socket.

Depends on the state of the battery I imagine, if you've been out for a good ride then it wont need to put much of a charge in and will only be putting a tiny current in to stop the discharge. Talking a few pound a month tops.

Say it's a 100amp/h battery. 100amp x 12v = 1200 watts. 1kw/h = 16p on an average tariff? So it costs about 20p maybe to fully charge an empty battery. All very rough maths. Think I've got that maths right.
While you're trickle charging, it is charger dependent. Maybe it trickles at 500mahs. 0.5 x 12 = 6watts (0.12 pence per hour). 3p per day!
