Think I've met my 'black beauty'.
My SV650 has been sat on my drive for 2 weeks now. I failed my A test on the one I've been learning on (Yamaha XJ6) after starting to pull out on a bus who was indicating to turn left but didn't. I'd dropped the XJ6 4 times on myself coz my feet didn't touch the floor enough....and too heavy. Last drop on my foot and broke my big toe. Starting to lose my confidence by the time it come to my test anyway.
I decided to take my test again but on the SV, took It out for the first time yesterday with my instructor......what a difference! I used to ride horses a lot, and was always told to look for a horse that I felt was an "extention of myself"........FOUND IT!! For the first time ever I could actually focus on the road instead of keeping the bike upright everytime I had to stop. The centre of gravity, weight, balance and response....fits perfectly for me. (reminds me of my first ever real 'snog' where I didn't have to worry about doing it like he did, but could actually relax and ENJOY it for myself!!) Sorry if I sound a big softy, but till yesterday I was on the point of giving up, and came back with the biggest grin on my face and tears in my eyes. Next test...here I come!!!! |

Interesting analogy, can't wait to see what you compare your first wheelie to.......
Glad you feel at home on the SV, they are an extremely easy bike to ride provided you stay nice and smooth. Good luck with your test. |

Good luck and ride carefully, the SV has lovely manners, but can be a bit of a hooligan if you let it get the better of your judgement.

The Japanese call what you're referring to 'jinba ittai' - check spelling and look up!
I only appreciated it when I moved to a bigger bike for reasons of machismo but the SV is really easy to ride and get along with. Enjoy it and well done!

Thanks for that Chris.....always wondered if there was a term for that! I don't think i'll take on riding no hands and getting my bow and arrow out yet. (wouldn't have minded on some occasions in the past though!!!) ;0)
