Exclamation Recall Suzuki SV650 AL7 2017

Just received a Recall: Suzuki SV650 - Control Unit Replacement from the DVSA a possible malfunction with Engine Control Module (ECM) advised to contact my dealer for free inspection and repair. Anyone else received a recall notice?

Received that recall for my AL7 today, but as I have not had a minutes trouble with the bike since I received it and the fault is only to do with OBD readout, I am loath to let some ham fisted mechanic mess around with it (and maybe cause future problems) for such a trivial thing. I note it says 'Recall - Suzuki SV650 - control unit replacement' - so it suggests it is not just a re-flash of software but a replacement ECU, with a bit of extra code for OBD.

We had the recall in New Zealand few weeks ago. I had the replacement ECM sent out to me and I swapped it out in a matter of minutes.

you can check on DVSA website for 'safety' recalls on vehicles, but this recall (not safety related ) does not show up.

https://www.gov.uk/check-if-a-vehicle-has-been-recalled

I would suggest the ECU recall affects all AL7 models (April 2016--> ), but Suzuki UK may clarify this.

Took my bike in to Cupar MCs for the recall today.
Very impressed with their customer service.
Bike was taken in to get the job done bang on the booked time.
Job was done in around twenty minutes.
Service desk guy explained the reason for it, apparently the ECU doesn't light up the FI warning light if there's a failure of the air intake temperature sensor.
Quite what symptoms a duff one of them causes I don't know.

It uses the air intake temperature to account for the air density so it can predict the volume of air entering the engine. A duff sensor will probably stick it into a set fuel table and could possibly give a reduction in power and fuel economy.
