Some of you like a bit of trail and dirt
![]() 4th UK Advrider meeting http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277897 Something for big trailies or novices and little trailies/enduros and the more experienced. Can anyone interested in this meeting planning on attending check this post http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...&postcount=287 so Timpo can firm up on numbers as the camping is limited. Dr Rich is only involved in this one in a executive capacity ![]() |

Shame. Had a go at off roading at the NEC and twas a bit of fun, wouldn't mind doing some more.
Failing the blagging of a bike, do you reckon me SV would be appropriate? |

Goddam this is 10 (ok 20 if going for it) minutes from house! I know the 3Ps (Three Pigeons) well, good selection of ales. no doubt you noisy buggers will come riding past my house and this will also explain why the same three GS's have gone past my front door past few weeks......
Now who can I borrow an off-road bike from? Would love to try this out. |

Recognised a whole number of those lanes after looking at the piccies! I wanna go!
Dr Rich - What is a pogo ride? What's the chances of being up to snuff on the novice ride if I get a bike sorted (used to handy on an MTB)? What sort of bike should a novice go for? oooohhhhh and I haven't even been drinking! |

LP, do what they all tell me to do and I havent, and thats get a DR or DRZ for less than £1200. Or a CRM250 for £800 or less if you fancy an old two stroke. Or as you are close anyhting, its not like you've got to go far.
A complete novice on a small triallie will really enjoy the adventure ride, as that has got to be GSable, 990able, even Varodero-able (although there's at least one lane in those pics that doesnt look like it is to me ![]() You would be ok on the pogo ride because folks will help (great bunch) but you may find it hard, I've nevr done a pogo ride with them, juts the big traillie rides. But they are put up there loads, so if you got one you would have lots of opportunity. SH, if you can get knobblies for the SV, well its just a slightly lower Strom isnt it? ![]() Edit for pogo read small traillie or enduro. Basically long travel suspension etc. Note though that this is dual sporting all bikes have to be road registered and road legal as there are tarmac liaisons and in fact the lanes are public highway, in some cases or at least not rpivate land. In terms of lights, well it is sometimes dark before we are home what with getting lost, mechanical breakdowns, mental breakdowns and punctures. You havent lived until you have had a puncture at 5.30pm in the forest on a sunday with no mobile reception when it is getting dark...not. Last edited by the white rabbit; 26-01-08 at 07:16 AM. |

LP, do you know of any good alternative accommodation nearby? B&B, camping, bunkhouse etc? I am too distant to help really but I could do with offering people other ideas if they dont fancy the field behind the Pigeons?

So - are you saying the novice ride might be doable on a wizzy little Varadero 125 with a rider who weighs next to nothing?

Yes. You will embarrass us all on a 125. BUT be aware its likely to get a drop or two so there is the issue of possibly damaging your regular transport.
Having said that last time about 47 or 50 bikes were there on the day and only 5 I think were destroyed and 4 were ride homable. Oddly 3 were from Ireland ![]() |
