Hi Guys
I have my test on Wednesday and all going well I will be dusting off the 2007 SV650 I have in the garage. I am planning on riding all year round and wondered what I need to do to prepare the bike for the weather conditions. I understand I need to use something like Scotoiler FS365, but what do I need to spray? It feels weird not having a clue about maintaining the vehicle I own . I've not felt like this since I bought my first car more years ago than I care to remember lol. |

Don't bother with FS365 it's crap and washes off.
Get ACF50 and spray everything except be careful to avoid the tyres and brakes

Thanks. Would I remove the fairing or just spray what you can see?

It creeps everywhere and you can get all the nooks and crannies without removing much.
Personally I would pull the fairings off to waterproof the electrics with silicon grease however this is a lot more work, depends how much prevention you can be bothered with. Trick with ACF is to spray it once every couple of weeks over winter, builds up a nice thick layer of sh*te!

What about the chain? I saw wax or lube/oil. Is one prefered over the other and which are the better brands to buy?

I don't like wax, I like castrol "racing" chain lube in green can.
Scottoiler is better.

ACF-50 is great stuff.
Be aware the first time you ride your bike it smells a bit as the bike warms up and sometimes makes it looks like the bike is smoking! |

Just buy normal oily type for winter and give it a regular dose after you put the bike away every few days. All the excess flings onto your rear wheel. A good thing in winter to prevent the paint corroding.
A hugger is a must too. A necessary evil to keep your rear shock from getting shot blasted and will keep your sub-frame in better nick. A fender extender is good too, for the front although I have got by fine with silicone gel/Dow Corning on the front plug cap seal to stop it occassionally running on one. Tons of WD40 all over the place, except tyres and discs. Keep adding coats. Looks **** but come xmas hols or spring and its all good underneath. |

Already got a hugger attached (its a SV650S K6 so do not know if this is standard or aftermarket) Will definately give the ACF-50 a go as it came up on most of my searches
