Does the Contax not work? To get to the shutter is pretty much a full strip down. I had a Kiev 4 apart and its a pretty deep job.

Nope Mrs Rod bought it and I can't remember if it was said to work or not, but by the time she gave it to me for Christmas I think the ebay protection had run out. Sticks on slow speeds, may be some other issues. Good nick though and lens is nice (f2 50mm).

Took a punt on an untested/spares OM40 for £1.99 plus post. Had a missing rewind crank and the mirror was locked up. Managed to open the back to make sure nothing was going to interfere with the shutter. After fitting a spare crank from a dead 40 I installed a fresh set of batteries the right was up and it sprang to life. All in all not a bad little camera.

Managed to find a 24mm f2.8 Yashica ML lens at an antique shop for a tenner. There was also a Flektagon 35mm f2.4 for a tenner too but as I already had one I left it. Stuck the Yashica lens on the FRii. They had an FR for £20 but again I left it. Been shooting with the OM40 today with a roll of expired Fuji 400. Quite a nice camera.

Did you manage to take a look at the scanner Yoko? Did it work?

A good find on the Yashica lens there, and the OM4.
I finished off a film in the XD7 today. Wow, that shutter mechanism is beautiful. 3 films to hand in tomorrow.
Got the scanner working but at the mo can only seem to get low res images. Need to investigate further.

Camera world is a bit more expensive than Rocky, innit?

If you switch to advanced mode you can adjust the dpi, I scan around 1200 and it doesn't take too long. Also there are film profile settings for a wide range of films.

Kenzie, what Flektogon was it? I am wondering about it with an M42-PK adapter as a good wide angle is hard to find. Have you used your own one yet?
Finally finished the Lomo 800 35mm film I got for Christmas! I got my mountain bike out and went out to get some harvest photos, mostly digital though. Didn't come out too well but one shot with a rabbit running along the wheat a short way in front of the combine would have been great, I only had a few seconds to decide so just snapped away and hoped fro the best.

Thanks Kenzie, much appreciated. I have a Hoya 28mm f2.8 and it's okay at best, and the Pentax in the same spec isn't great at all. Looked into the M42 adapters, they can be pricey but don't work with auto aperture (the pin depressed when the shutter is fired) but that lens has an auto/manual switch so it'll be fine as stop-down metering. Also seems if you take off the spring on the adapter that locks it into the body, you can jam it on the lens thread and basically convert it to a PK lens.

Yoko, what's the normal operation for a Yashica Electro 35? I get a clunk on winding but the shutter speed doesn't seem to change. Battery check light shines ok. Johnny, have you got a PK to M42 adapter? I have a spare but no key for it.
