SV650s '02 Headlamp with snapped lug bolt.
Howdo all and very nice to see a dedicated SV650 forum
The years i've spent trowling the netz and never seen this site!! i could of had so much time saved with my browsing the nets for answer about my bike... Anywho.. pleased to meet you all and here's the low down of my prob. Took my bike to Huddersfield BLD Group MOT center for a test and it failed on a "wobbly" headlamp ... :/ so i took the fairing completely off and have now taken off the full headlamp assy, on doing so i have found a assembly bolt sheared. I have taken a few pic's to give a better description. The problem is, I'm not flush with cash to buy a brand new lamp, and i have scoured the net for breakers which don't have a headlamp to suit. I have warmed up the area with a heat gun and extracted the bolt, anyone know of where to get a replacement bolt only? This one has baffled me as i have spent day after day trying to locate a specialist that sell/produce a bolt like this. Suzuki dealers has advised a new headlamp..(they would tbh :/ more notes for them) and that they don't supply spare bolts for this part. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pics to follow: |

Re: SV650s '02 Headlamp with snapped lug bolt.
Stick the head of a suitable 'ordinary' bolt in the hole, done this a couple of times myself, (not just SVs), as long as you clean the area carefully and use a suitable glue, (Araldite perhaps, a hot melt glue gun is my personal tool of choice), it'll work fine.
Not fair to criticise the dealer, you present him a broken bit and suggests you get a new one - hardly unreasonable is it?

As for the dealer, they have a customer service they could of at least tried, of course it's easier for them to recommend a new whole unit.. order it in job done, why bother with trying to get cheap indavidual parts, when the old one is in no state of being thrown away for the sake of a bolt?? But your view was kindly appreciated though |
