Carby is louder than my Injected
I have just put an identical fuel stubby on my carbed 2001 svs as I had on my k5 and the noise difference is astronomical!
I owned a sv650-s (v-reg) with a full length can and it was loud but not this loud - is this because of all the mods I have done (below in signature) But the real question - why is the carbed engine so much louder than the injected bikes? |

Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
I reckon it's those flush mount indicators that do it ....
Is it the induction noise or the exhaust blat that you notice the difference in?

Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
i think it has something to do with it having a cat and the labda sensor etc... my k3 pointy was much louder than my friends k7 pointy, the k3 has none of that stuff in it!

Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
most excellent. Moral of the story if you're gonna get a pointy get a K3 ( and buy a spare crank)

Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
the cat is in the silencer on the k5, the later versions starting from the k8 have cats in collector i believe

Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
geoffrey is right - the K5 has no cat or labda sensor.
Both have the same exhaust, cut in the same place, with the same can (albeit different colours!) Exhaust note is almost to loud, might have to put the baffle in! It had a scorpion titanium (sold to Dafne) and that was a nice note, but not quite loud enough and I like the look of stubbies (especially when they are iridium effect!) Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
It's the K+N filter letting you hear all the induction snort.
Try it with tank raisers and BMC RS filter, and remove the dampening foam from the bottom of the tank. THAT'S a snort! Can't hear the can above 6k...

Re: Carby is louder than my Injected
Tbh I don't know what it is that makes the crank go it either does or it doesn't no point worrying. I suppose dropping it loads and wheelies probably wouldn't help (anyway off topicness sorry).
