What makes you feel old?

Had a thought today during a little bit of nostalgia (someone posted the link to the Flight of the Navigator film) and it got me thinking about how long ago that was etc...

Then I had an age epiphany, Upon leaving high school I promptly started working at said high school.... The kids leaving that school next year weren't born when I started working there!

Bit of a revelation for me as I don't feel old, I don't even feel adult, I just seem to be someone who has (perhaps mistakenly) been given adult responsibilities....

Anyone else the same? Is this the start of a mid life crisis or just a realisation that people you consider young adults are half your age!

Chatting with people on rideouts (or at work) and reaslising they were born in the 90's sometaimes make me stop and think. When I tell them I was born in the 60's (just) it sometimes makes them stop and think. Of course, I sometines ACT as though I'm half my age!

Know how you feel, I was horrified to discover recently while chatting away to a friend that I was old enough to be her Mother! I still feel the same as I did when I was 18, but these days my hip really hurts and my back is damaged and knees have given out, but I put that down to far too much cycle and mountain sport when I was twenty... Then my GP pointed out that a woman of my age should expect some aches and pains!

I don't want to get old, I have not finished being young yet. The mountain bike is still in the hallway, I crave Lego for my birthday and often find myself stood at the back of gigs thinking that the children present cannot be old enough to drink alcohol.

Yet, I know I am old because I worry about my rubbish pension that will leave me skint and having to eat flies for dinner. I get the occasional chest pain and worry that I am like my mother and may have a heart problem. Getting old is pants. Oh well, the wife is fifty in three years, that will make her officially old!

I always feel old when I hear about the anniversaries of news events albeit tragic ones, i.e....

10 years since Soham murders.
15 years since Diana died.
Almost 20 years since Jamie Bulger was murdered.

I feel old in the mornings. Sore joints. A headache from only two pints. My daughter to becoming a teenager. Kids driving cars when they were born in the 90's.

I was quite happy to discover the other day that I was the youngest in my group at the footy by 3 months. At 52 it is rare to be in any group where I am not the oldest.

Responsibility makes you feel old. If you were still at home with your rents being fed and clothes washed and bed made for you, you'd never grow up!

Being trapped in modern days life stresses is what ages the heart the fastest. I am still a big kid, but the only way I can survive is to be adult and deal with my responsibilities. I'd rather run around with BB guns telling fart jokes.

It'll be about 20 years since I used to regularly go out with the same group of friends, those whom which I feel the most fondest memories come from. We all found each other again slowly, and none of us have particularly changed......and all the fellas still have hair the ladies would be jealous of....even if the grey hairs are hidden with just for men
Some of us have children, only one did back then. My eldest is 11, and I'm gradually nearing 40...... Seems only yesterday I was 17!

I often think "ive done a lot for a young one" then I think hang on... I'm not actually that young anymore, I'm not old I'm not pushing it on a bit or anything like but I look at some of the lads at football and I've recently realised I'm no longer the one of the "young en's" .

I only feel old when I see "kids" driving or even worse was when I've been out in town and a mates "kid" sister came up to say Hi. After she explained who she was I asked if she was even legal to drink now and she told me she was nearly 21... It's odd how big the age gap feels when you're 18 and they're 13 but it soon closes up when you're in your 20's.
