Removing wheels to replace tyres
My chain was a little loose so I was off to Halfords to buy some new spanners which I don't yet own to adjust it. Get half way, van driver warns me my tyre is flat. Pull over and there's a screw sunk into it. Great.
Is it worth removing the wheels myself so the garage have to do less when it comes to fitting the tyres? Will it reduce the cost enough for what the efforts worth? And if it is worth it, how difficult is it to do? I am a 100% bike novice. I can do the odd adjustments, but never done anything proper. Any potential dangers to watch out for? And finally, again if it's worth the effort, does anyone have a paddock/centre stand I could borrow? I'd be very grateful. Last edited by Foot; 26-07-14 at 04:02 PM. Re: Lend me a paddock stand. Manchester.
What part of Manchester are you in ? There's a place in Farnworth called B & C I used at end of last year who will look after you. You can borrow a paddock stand, tools and advice from me if you are anywhere near SK5. I've also used TST at Risley near Warrington.

Im in Moss Side. B&C sounds good - I assume you were entirely happy with them? I will give them a ring as soon as! I'll pm you too. Last edited by Foot; 26-07-14 at 09:07 PM. |

Re: Lend me a paddock stand. Manchester.
There's a very good mobile fitter around Manchester way....I've used him a couple of times and he was very competitive with the ride in/ride out places.

How much did you pay for ride in/ride out? Was it for two tyres? Quote:
I think I might go for ride in ride out though in the end, if it's not that much more cost wise. A lot less hassle. I don't know what I'm doing with removing the wheels, is it that complicated? Also with the mobile service, will he come with everything necessary to remove the wheels etc. and he'll put it back together? I do have common sense, I swear, just trying to get over the cost of two new tyres with beer |

B&C did a good job but Mr Pigs is closer to you and he knows his stuff. This is how you get both wheels off with only one paddock stand.
