Default Making SV650 narrower?

so i currently have a sv650 2003 and cbr600rr 2006 on the road. I work on the other side of london to where i live. Since filtering with my cbr600rr for the past week its SO much easier filtering in smaller gaps.

So my dilemma is can i get smaller mirrors that wont cost an arm and leg to reduce the size of the bike. Pulling in the mirrors while is not an option at they are S*** and come loss and flop about.

Or how about putting R6 fairings on the bike? I like the looks of the R6 but dont need the performance of it. anyone put R6 fairings on the bike with headlight before? as i have seen sv650 race bikes with R6 fairings fitted.

the cbr fits in smaller gaps which makes me ride it more but being an inline 4 its hard to ride at slow speeds. It has to look like a sports bike and have fairings to protect me from motorway wind, and well lets face it, i like it to look cool!

any thoughts?

Putting R6 fairing on the bike will cost more than even the most expensive mirrors you can get you're hands on. I'd start there if not looking to spend an arm and a leg.

What you want is a nice curvy. Wing mirrors fold in and out, absolutely great in traffic

The wing mirrors are not a straight swap, but it may be worth looking for something similar

Buy a lid with the mirror system and your still have change from the cost of the R6 faring and less heart ach fitting it

Is it really narrower? Th pointy SVS is 730mm wide - presumeably across the mirrors. How wide is the CBR? So how much are we looking at reducing it by?

Are you sure it's not something else giving the impression of it being narrower, eg sharper handling, less wobble, better suspension?

Shorter mirrors could be fitted, bar ends removed, front indicators replaced with flush types. What else sticks out? Exhaust, replace with oval or stubby, might get a cm or two there. Shorty two finger brake and clutch levers. Crash bungs stick out a bit, so take these off. Lower fairings, if fitted, could be removed.

Funny how narrow the rider can get when rapidly approaching a narrowing gap between two moving buses.

I speak from experience.

If the gap had got any smaller, my SV would be just what Kiggles wants...
