So the A6 where I live is closed from 7am to 3pm on sunday for a sporting event. So does that mean I cannot leave home? How do people get to my house?

OK I can understand through traffic that has an alternative route. But how the feck are locals supposed to live?

Tim, you have the sympathy of most of the people who live in Surrey. They suffered a LOT with the big cycle rides closing half the county several times over the last few years. Glad I don't live there.

This is push biking. part of the ironman contest. In previous years they have just screwed up the roads locally. This time it is the road off the cul-de sac I live on. Last year it was chaos as cars/pushbikes had to get on with each other. So this year the locals loose out.

Be glad you are not in the US where they would decide (after doing this once) that a new road is needed, spending millions of tax dollars and they must destroy your neighborhood.
Then offer you about 1/3 of the property value. If you refuse then they just seize it.
But the fans can now get safely to the stadium without traffic delays.
