Default Electric sports bike

Interesting video on the RNickeymouse YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJTmg2IIK24

It's a modified 2016 Zero FXS electric bike, giving around 65bhp and over 100ft-lb of torque (at zero rpm!) yet only weighing around 280 lbs. Only an 80 mile range, though.

Not sure I'd really enjoy it - one of the things I like about riding is gear-changing: I'd miss swapping cogs ...

Electric motorbike with 80 mile range and no noise just seems so wrong, and as with electric cars (which a lot of people misunderstand) the range will be at steady 50mph in summer. If you use the performance range probably nearer 50 miles, then a time to recharge (if you can find a charge point). Think I will give it a miss, half the fun of biking is the lovely noise and swapping cogs, as well as a bit of vibe through seat.

I'd love an electric bike if the range issue was sorted (and they dropped the price - a lot). The acceleration must be phenomenal with max torque available from the motor's first revolution - I like changing gear too but imagine the sheer relentless force pushing you back along the seat with no interruption. They may not be the fastest accelerating bikes but I would think the sensation they provide would make it feel like they were.

Who wouldn't want to try this:

0-60 in 2 secs - your knuckles would end up dragging along the ground after a few runs!

Pretty useless unless battery swaps become available at all petrol stations

I was watching Guy Martin earlier talking about his TTzero electric bike he said you don't get much feeling of acceleration and the bike was heavier than he would like.

To have battery swap they would need to standardise on battery size and mounting, also would you happily swap your brand new battery for one of indeterminate age and condition at a service station ?

Yup, which is unlikely enough for cars. Never gonna happen for bikes

Well obviously they would all have to be kept to a standard and deliver a minimum Ah output

The cost, the weight, the range, no racket, no thanks.
