K9 Intermittent Speedo
For some reason, the speedo on my K9 suddenly started acting up, it's now mainly reading 0mph but occasionally starts working again. Would appreciate a few ideas where to start the diagnosis.
The bike doesn't live in the garage, and has lived undcovered for the last week or so as the cover got absolutely soaked when I accidentally knocked a whole bucket of rainwater over it (when it wasn't on the bike that is). Possible something just got damp?

Re: K9 Intermittent Speedo
This may sound silly, but have you checked the rubbish magnet in the front wheel? If the tabs fall off of it, it screws up the speed sensors and you don't get any readings.
They cost less than £20 to replace if it is that, or do what I did and glue the stupid tabs back on! That is the easiest solution, if it is not that then I don't have a clue. |

Re: K9 Intermittent Speedo
Yup start with the rotor. May not even be broken, could be filled with gunk which stops it spinning freely. Remove front wheel spindle, gently remove the rotor from the left side. Check the tabs are still there, give it a clean and a spin, check the wire from the rotor & along the fork for any snags, nicks or damage. If the problem persists then check the connection to the sensor, if this is loose or if water is in the connector (very difficult to do) it might cause it to act up, but start with rotor first as suggested.

Re: K9 Intermittent Speedo
Also check the cable for routing and chaffing. On my 05 pointy (fork converted) the cable was badly routed and had been somewhat chewed. Replacing it (and routing it better) cured all.
