Default Suspension Servicing & Set Up North East England

Hi all,
I'm after getting my shock refurbed and my front forks fitted with some new springs and refurbed while they are off the bike.

I've been quoted £245 for both refurbs and new linear springs fitted to the front forks. However this involves mailing the suspension off. I was after any recommendations for places in North East England where this could be done so I can drop them in myself. I've not had any work like this done before so I've got no idea where to try. Google hasn't thrown much up and yell.com is useless for specific trades.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I can fit springs for you easy enough but there is nothing that can be done with the standard shock.

Sorry Chris I should have said. It's on a Ducati Monster so the shock is rebuildable. I sold the SV about 8 weeks ago.

I assume that changing springs is easy enough with the right tools? I'm contemplating doing the front forks myself if it's as easy as old springs out, new springs in and refill with new oil.

The mechanic I go to in newsham did my emulators and springs on the SV although i'm not sure how hard it is to rebuild rear shocks. Only charged me £80 to fit springs emulators and swap the shock for a new one though.

Where are you using in Newsham? I didn't know that there was a decent place so close to me. I'm in Newbiggin By The Sea.

My plan is now to do the forks myself and to send the shock away for refurb as that requires a lot of specialist equipment.

01670353155 is his number. The guy I deal with is called Darren. He collects classic two strokes. I know he does all jap bikes and i've seen some aprilias in there too so give him a bell and ask.

Nice bloke and he doesnt charge crazy money for things. Also does tyres and MOT's too.

Briliant mate. Thanks very much for the info. Massively appreciated. I'll give him a bell.

Aye give him a try, not sure if this is his half day or not but he's open weekends. He should be able to do the forks no bother but doesn't like doing the belts on them!!

I'll do the front suspension myself after reading up on it. However I still need an MOT doing so I'll give him a bell.

I was going to do the belts myself. I'll ask him how tricky it is!

Apparently the springs are easy if you can hold the bike up and measure the oil accurately. I think the belts are hard though!!
