Bikes to use all UK bus lanes PETITION

Sign this, we already have this freedom in Bristol and it's great.

Signed. This is one "it'd be nice to have" biking wish that I honestly cannot see any reason for it to not be the case. Whenever I've ridden in places where it has been allowed, it has worked very well. I've never seen it cause any problems.

Won't be signing up for this. The times I've used (legally) a bus lane I had near-miss after near-miss caused by cars decided to pop into the bus lane to cut a queue. Car drivers do not expect you to be there. Plus all the crap the buses leave behind! I now don't bother using the bus lane, I would rather filter up the outside, much safer.

There are exceptions of course, such as a lovely brand new bypass with a special priority lane that the buses don't actually use yet

Point taken. There's a contra-flow bus lane in Bristol, on the way home today two spikey haired little ****s in a Pug 106 decided to use it to jump queuing traffic. They looked shockedto find they were heading straight for me.

Fortunately I was well on the ball.


That said, Bristol City Council claim a 30% reduction in city center bike accidents since they allowed bus lane use.
