banned from another forum
last night i got banned from another forum, just for using text typing, and i dont mean the crap that the young-uns use,
i type the same as on here, stuff like thanx, b4, HTH etc, but on there anything that is not in the english dictonary gets deleted within minutes, and no pm explaining why (which is very annoying) the owner runs it like a nazi camp, one of my threads was deleted because i posted a piccy of the blade, when somebody said they liked it i replyed it was for sale. but the part i got banned for, was the mod posted about people not using text talk and asking if everybody read the rules, i replyed no, i just ticked the box, and if people can read the posts whats the problem. anywho he relpyed to my post using the word "kinda" so i told him kinda was not a proper word. and he should delete his post somtimes i just cant help myself im now BANNED it would'nt have happened on the org i tell you fizz, bigape, grinch, ping, ritchie, luckypants, admin,t sm etc keep up the good work Last edited by hovis; 21-01-08 at 09:37 AM. |

Re: banned from another forum
Quite right. A bit of bad grammer and bad spelling, we all do that and some cant help it, but text type speak is just a pain.
In my mind text type speak is very different from commonly understood words such as 'kinda, tho' etc, although I understand it is hard to draw a line. But a lot of text type speak is annoying. No one is expecting a work of literature in a post, but we are trying to comunicate in English, after all.. |

Re: banned from another forum
+1 on the Dr Rich.
I cannot abide the use of "text speak". It is impossible to read, does not make sense and simply lazy when there are no restrictions on the lengths of posted messages.
