SV650 wanted !!

Looking for an SV650 (lowered and restricted if possible but not a problem either way). Just passed my test and looking to buy !!

have you decided on a Pointy or a Curvy as this will make a difference

curvy are 99-02 and Pointy ones are 03 to date so curvy are cheaper

Sorry for point out the obvious if u knew that already .... if its a pointy one you are after then £2.5 may be a touch too low - just - i think £2.6k is the lowest i have seen one and that was in the for sale section ... (Forum feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) in fact i have just found 2 pointy SVs on Bike Trader for less than £2k - ?????????? very odd

Personally i wouldn't pay more that £2k for a curvy ...

also COLOUR is very important - Grand Candy Blue is the best by far

stupid question - but is there any difference in height/weight between the two models?

not a great deal ....there is about 5mm in it with the curvy being 805mm - both are the same weight 170kgs ish

mm - do u think i will need it lowered - am only about 5'4...

need to sit on one really.

erm ... i have no idea i'm 6ft2" LOL

i would say that it would do you well to lower it - this is done by changing what are called the dog bones on the suspension linkages - this is easily done if you are mechanically minded and if not the forum are a lovely warm and fuzzy bunch that just love to help other SVers


There is also another option which is to replace the standard seat for a scooped out one - basically the foam insert is thinner thus reducing the
height of said seat this is a much easier job too

all the bits mentioned are readily available off the bay of evil so wont be much of a bind to find !!!

I'm 5ft 6 and have no probs on mine, I have a curvy and can get my feet down on both sides, you should be ok.
