Changing pads and caliper cleaning - few q's

Hi all,
My brake pads are getting very thin and need changing. I'm also thinking about cleaning the caliper as the bike is on 26k and adding Goodridge braided hoses (s/s, race setup).
I've found a guide for changing the seals, got new pads so what else do I need:
-red rubber grease,
-new seals,
-new brake fluid and a lot of patience for bleeding the system.

Anything I've forgotten or need to know about?

patience, other than that you've got all you need. Oh and maybe a bit of wire wool to help clean up the pistons if there's any crud stuck to them, and something small and pointy to clean out the grooves where the seals sit if there's any corrosion in them.

Have you had the pad retaining pins out before, and greased them? If not, this could be the first stumbling block.....................

Some aerosol brake cleaner might not go amiss, for general cleaning off the brake crud. I get it from the local Pound Shop (for £1 ).

Plastic kitchen scourers (or scotchbrite if you want to be technical) is good for cleaning stubborn crud.

FWIW I found HEL braided lines from busters to be the cheapest decent stainless ones you could get at 20 pounds per line including banjo bolts and the rubber bushes.

They also do them coloured.

I've been told its a good idea to change the various pins, springs and clips when changing pads too. Does anyone agree with that advice?

Anyone know where to get these as I'm due to do mine shortly!

I've never bothered unless they're worn, I always clean them up and use lots of copperslip on them though.

I hate those tokico pin with R clip setups though, give me the Honda Nissin type setup any time.

It might be an idea to replace with stainless (or titanium) pins though as it will save grief later. Again make sure you use copperslip on the pin so that it will come out again!

I would buy suzuki OEM rubbers. Saves you a lot of grief. Also I agree with Fastdruid that HEL lines are better for the buck. I've fitted those on mine as well and are great.

Other than that, patience will be learned from bleedin' brakes.

95% of the time I've not replaced seals as the problems normally stem from crap behind them and on the piston.

If you leave it though then it can damage the seals and then it's best to replace them.

Then again that may because I have 6 pots on my SV, 12 pistons comes to a lot of seals...
