Default Ouch!

Warning graffic pics!!

The wife and I were supposed to be off on the bike again last weekend but a horrific accident at work on Friday, nearly severing my finger, cancelled our plans.

This one may take some time to heal.
Pics are from last night (08/10/2011) some 8 1/2 days afterwards.
Stitches are supposed to be removed on Wed. but I think it's going to be a wee longer than that.

Hospitals in the US claim to have the greatest healthcare in the world.
(of course the US claims to the best EVERYTHING in the world)
This happened at 5:00 PM and was 10:30 PM before they gave me anything for pain.

Amazingly nothing vital was injured and should make a full recovery.

Thanks for the warning! I stuck my hand in a lathe once and cut one finger to the bone, threw the tendon. That was at 830am. I went to Kingston Hospital and then St Georges. It wasn't until 6pm that I was offered some pain killers!

This one was to the bone as well, knuckle exposed, but at least I didn't have to wait as long as you did!

Truthfully could have been seen sooner had I taken an ambulance to the hospital but it's about £1500 for the half hour ride there.

Thats pretty crap Bill

Im always injuring myself doing the job i do, goes with the terrority unfortunately, that one of yours does look a good one though.

Scariest for me was end of last summer, i had a piece of thin wood sticking out of a rubbish bucket as i went to grab then handle it flicked and whacked me in the left eye, i was alone in a customers house and panicked a bit tbh.
I felt my eyeball move back with the impact, it went black for a few mins then so blurry i couldnt even make out shapes.

Luckily my wife works in opthamology so she looked at it and against her advice i didnt go to A&E, but it got better after a few days with plenty of eye drops.
Still sends a shiver down my spine when i think about it.

Hope yours heals quick.

Phil

Just a small flesh wound that looks like its healing fine. If you leave the sutures in too long the wound heals where they pass through and it'll smart a bit when they pull them out.

One of these, with the blade exposed was lying amidst some rubbish in a cars center console and I was testing the emergency brake.
When I released the brake and let the handle down my hand struck the blade..
