No, there is a button to switch from manual to AE mode but that is about it. I took the mount off. The lens feels as if there is nothing attached to operate the aperture.

It sounds like something's missing. I haven't got any Canons but on all the lenses I have, there's some kind of tab and mechanism in the mount that stops down the lens.

Oily blades. Who knows if I can get it back together though! Had I known better I could have just unscrewed the rear element and swabbed the blades. Live and learn.

I'd have said oily blades too, the spring on them isn't very stiff.

these are supposed to be a good camera, a well-kept secret, and Seikosha shutters are said to be very good and very quiet

Will try to reassemble but it's not looking good.

You need to take more pictures when you're tearing them down!

Its not so much that, I cant get the lens body back into the focus ring and lower housing. Only found one worth picking up, a Beirette V with case for £2

Hey Yokohama, just tested my A11 flash on your XA3 and it won't fire. I think that's the only thing wrong with it. Unless I'm just being an idiot.

Put a bid on this as they are quite rare

Just bought this 112052771654 hoping that its a case of needing to set the shutter before pressing the release button!

The Beirette looks in good condition. Can't complain for a couple of quid with a case.
It's no big deal if the XA3 flash doesn't work. I don't use flash very often; I keep them turned off all the time on the mobile and digital camera.

I thought so too. It had a horrible white sticker above the lens but peeled it off and removed the gunk with lighter fluid.

A slight downer with the Tamron Adaptalls. Because of the adapter mount, that nifty little Minolta window which shows aperture doesn't work.
