botched frankenstein????
Hmmm, I think this looks alright, but I`ll need to cut off the curvy light mount and make up a new mount.
Obviously I`ll need to make a suitable undertray and plate hanger. I was thinking about getting all the plastics from a pointy, but would be just as much work to make it all fit. Although if I could get it cheap enough it may look better. Id also need to sort out some sort of fill panel for either side of the rear light. Lee |

Re: botched frankenstein????
Lee, it looks like your basic winter tidy up is growing arms and legs .
Anyway, that light looks like a nice idea. I suppose if you used pointy plastics all the bodging would be to the subframe so would be hidden. I do think the curvy plastics would be better though, providing you can tidy up the gaps. Darren's right, the detail there will make or break it. |

Re: botched frankenstein????
Ive drawn up a paper template this evening of the mounting plate that would be required to fit the light to the curvy subframe.
The standard rear lamp mount must be cut off, then my new bracket will have to be welded on. I cant weld, but have spoken to one of the welders at work who will happily weld on my bracket for me. ( as the rear end is in bits taking in the subframe is no biggie) Until I cut off the standard rear light mount I cant fully mock up my pointy light mount, so thats tomorrows job( the pointy light hits the curvy light mount before it fits flush) Another job is number plate light, I keep looking at the rear light and thinking 2 more LEDs facing down would keep it clean looking. As said by others, its the detail, and mainly the gaps either side of the light that need dealing with. Ive looked at ABS sheet, but then thought about gauze and fibre glass, it is after all only 2 small portions, maybe cover with carbon fibre vinyl. I would love to try pointy plastics, but id need all of it, plus the seats and grab rail (currently only have the light and its centre trim piece.)and theyre not the cheapest items either. Looking again at the pic at the top of the thread, if I use the undertray mod template, adjusted to suit the light, that again may work ok, and allow me to use a couple of leds for the plate light Lee Last edited by leebex; 29-10-10 at 07:39 PM. |

Re: botched frankenstein????
The tail light is the only good thing about a pointy

Every one is entitled to have an opinion...
Even when it is a ludicrously wrong one! This should be interesting, I have been saying for ages that a curvy frame with pointy plastics and lights would look really cool. Yes, I know... I will burn for my heresy! |
